"Until I got your help, stage fright was ruining my life."
Dear Friend,
I was sitting down to lunch the other day reading a letter from a woman named Sarah who attended one of my workshops when I got to the line,
"I attended your overcoming stage fright workshop and thought it was great. Just four days after I got home I had to address a group of over 120 colleagues at our conference. (Which is why I was so desperate to get your help). And I actually did it. It was incredible! I feel confident, fearless and excited for the first time in 14 years. It is absolutely amazing."
Well, I can tell you I have received many letters of gratitude from people but, as I continued to read on I knew this one was different from most. I smiled as I read,
"Randy, I was so skeptical, remember we even talked about it on the phone? It was so hard for me to believe that I could actually overcome my stage fright so fast, but I did!"
But, I was touched, as she went on to say,
"Until I got your help, stage fright was ruining my life. I was avoiding life, withdrawing and feeling more and more isolated. I lived in constant fear of being put in a situation where I would have to speak up in front of people. I was literally making myself sick anticipating when I might be called on to express myself next.
I guess I have to thank my friend Joel, I don't know if you remember him but he's the musician who suffered such severe stage fright that he dropped out of the music business for nearly eight years. But after working with you he completely overcame it and went back to his love of performing. Well anyway, he got me to call you."
At this point in the letter I remembered her because she took me aside and begged me not to ask her to speak up in the workshop. Anyway, she went on to say,
"I was really nervous to talk to you but you made me feel so comfortable, and you gave me hope, you were really compassionate, and patient, you even made the workshop more relaxing and fun with your stories and great sense of humor."
But, she said,
"What really clinched it for me to attend the workshop was your guarantee. You said that if I didn't think the workshop was for me after the first day I could drop out and you would refund my money, that was enough for me but then what really impressed me was when you said that if I still needed help you would work with me by phone after the workshop until I overcame my fear. It's funny to think of it now but, I knew I was totally free of my stage fright before I finished the second day of the workshop."
Sarah's letter touched me again when she said,
"Randy I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, I know you saved my life. I can never express my gratitude to you."
Wow, what do you say to that? But that's exactly why I do this work. My passion is helping people reach their creative and performance potential.
I'm sharing all this with you because I believe this personal news can inspire others to take action to overcome their stage fright and develop their performance potential. The other reason is that after 18 years of doing this work I'm once again reminded that the fast change techniques I employ are incredibly powerful and extremely effective! Just ask Sarah.
Sincerely,
